I recently joined up with a large group of around 6-7 friends, if this forum is even still active...

it never really has been, a shame though

I saw it was inactive but figured it was still worth posting. However..
Unfortunately all but one of those friends has windows 8 and it's infamous for crashing on there everytime you start it. Have you got any suggestions, or is this un-fixable?

Well, I'm a happy Win 7 user who wouldn't change to 8 for the next decade.
So if he has already tried to run in any compatibility mode, I have no idea then.

I have ran it in compatibility mode and it does not work, it works in windows 8 but when I upgraded to windows 8.1 it stops working and idk how to fix it. any idea Mugen? I need help man its been a while since I stopped playing u.u

Is it the only program/game that stopped working? If not, make sure all your drivers are uptodate (especially graphics, if you've got NVidia try "NVidia GeForce Experience").
Can't help you further, I'm afraid. Even though I'm the IT guy in my company I keep avoiding Server 2012 and Windows 8 stuff, so neither do I check for updates/news nor do I have real knowledge when it comes to this OS.
There'd be two ways to play the game for sure:
a) create a 2nd windows boot (dual boot) for using MRO
b) wait (hopefully) for updates for 8.1 which may fix the issue

You may wanna join the official microsoft forums and ask about this issue there, may someone'll be able to help you.

Oh how do I don that dual boot?
and yes i have nvidia and they are up to date.
and yes it says that the program has stopped working for some issue. it does not specify any error or anything like that.
